National Registration update for NSW registrants

If you are a NSW registrant renewing in the Limited Prescribing and Referral category, please read on.

As you may be aware, under the new National Registration and Accreditation Scheme, the cost of renewing registration in the Limited Prescribing and Referral category has increased.

However, a number of our members have drawn to our attention that invoices from AHPRA have requested $465.00. This is the fee for doctors with full registration. The fee for doctors in the Limited Registration (Public Interest-Occasional Practice), should be $180 for NSW registrants, and $250 for all other registrants. This is consistent with the Medical Board of Australia fee schedule.

If you have been charged the incorrect amount, and have paid it, please contact AHPRA on 1300 419 495 to obtain a refund.

Additionally, there is a one month grace period for registrants whose renewal is due on 30 September 2010 - you will not be penalised for renewing your registration during this period. This will allow those doctors who found the price of registration prohibitive an opportunity to reassess their situation.
