Updates on National Registration - 8 September 2010
Accessing your record
Some of you had trouble finding yourselves on the register. If you are accessing your record, it is important to note that you should not enter your NSW Medical Practitioner Number – instead simply enter your name and type of practice into the appropriate fields.
Declarations on the Renewal Notice
Some of you have been concerned about the information you need to disclose on the renewal application form for questions 11 and 14.
With regard to Question 11 on ‘Criminal History’ - AHPRA has advised that if a state medical board has already been advised of a criminal conviction (or where relevant, criminal charge), it does not need to be disclosed again on this renewal statement.
With regard to Question 14 on ‘Have you had a complaint made about you to a registration authority or another entity having functions relating to professional services provided, by health practitioners or the regulation of health?’ AHPRA has confirmed that practitioners should report any complaint lodged during the preceding registration period and any complaint which may have been lodged earlier but remains open at the time of application for renewal.
Login information for the website
Those of you who have received renewal notices will now have the login information required to enter the website. This will allow you to use features such as changing your contact information online. For those of you who are not due to renew until after 1 October, AHPRA is commencing a mail out soon which will include login details.
Late fees
Re-emphasising on my email from Monday, it is essential that you act on your renewal notices immediately. Renewal applications lodged after the expiry date but within the one month grace period attract a late fee of $325. However, if you are charged this fee for reasons you believe were beyond your control, please contact us so we can raise the issues with AHPRA.
I will continue to update you when important information becomes available and in the meantime welcome any feedback.
