AMA (NSW) urges the public to continue wearing masks in healthcare settings
March 1, 2022AMA (NSW) congratulates Ms Susan Pearce on her appointment to the role of Secretary of NSW Health.
“AMA (NSW) has worked closely with Ms Pearce over a number of years during her time as Deputy Secretary, Purchasing and Performance. Ms Pearce is widely respected across the health and hospital system. She has a strong commitment to public health and has demonstrated her high level of competency throughout the COVID response, both regarding vaccination and across the health system more generally,” said AMA (NSW) President, Dr Danielle McMullen.
AMA (NSW) also acknowledges the leadership of outgoing Health Secretary, Ms Elizabeth Koff.
“Ms Koff has played a critical role in guiding the health system response to the pandemic. During her time as Secretary, she has demonstrated her passion for improving patient care. In particular, her commitment to seeing an integrated, coordinated health system in NSW is a vision we hope will continue into the future.”
AMA (NSW) looks forward to working with Ms Pearce in preparing the NSW Health system to deal with the challenges of living with COVID and will be continuing to highlight the critical need for adequate health funding, a well-supported workforce, and a coordinated single health system in NSW.
The AMA has made public hospitals a critical Federal election issue and is encouraging the Commonwealth to increase funding to states and territories to 50%. At the state level, we are advocating for that funding to be prioritised for hospitals and workforce.
