AMA (NSW) Webinar: Practice Owners’ Positive Duty to Eliminate Sexual Harassment and Discrimination

With AMA (NSW) Director of Workplace Relations, Dominique Egan

It is almost 12 months since the Respect at Work Act 2022 passed Federal Parliament and amended the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 and the Fair Work Act 2009.

Employers have a Positive Duty to eliminate, as far as is practicable, unlawful behaviours in the workplace.   Unlawful behaviours include sexual harassment and sexual discrimination.  This means employers cannot wait and respond when an incident occurs but must proactively take steps to prevent incidents before they occur.

The Australian Human Rights Commission will soon commence enforcing compliance with the Positive Duty obligation.

Practice Owners are invited to join AMA(NSW) Director of Workplace Relations, Dominique Egan, for a discussion about the Positive Duty obligation and the proactive practical steps they can take in their Medical Practices to ensure compliance.
