As you may be aware, new provisions in the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) place a positive duty on organisations and businesses to take reasonable steps to eliminate unlawful behaviours including sexual harassment or sex-based harassment/discrimination in connection with work.
Being able to demonstrate this positive duty is a combination of many things, one being raising awareness and providing training for staff. AMA (NSW) Workplace Relations have created a sexual harassment training webinar for staff (such as administrative support staff, nurses and health professionals) which will cover key definitions and concepts, how to respond if they are experiencing or witnessing sexual harassment or sex-based harassment/discrimination in the workplace, WHS obligations at employee level, and more.
The webinar will be held on Wednesday, 19 June at 12.15pm.
The information will be valuable to both Practice Managers and Practice Staff.
If you would like your staff members to attend the webinar, please register all attendees by securing multiple registrations – you will be required to put in name and email for each attendee.
We encourage you to email your questions before the webinar to events@amansw.com.au. We’ll endeavour to address them during the webinar (time permitting) or answer them afterwards.
