With AMA (NSW) President, Dr Kathryn Austin and Director of Workplace Relations, Dominique Egan
Date: Wednesday 24 July, 2024
Time: 7:00pm – 7:45pm
The Ministry of Health have made an offer to increase Sessional VMO remuneration by 3% in 2024, 2025 and 2026. The remuneration increase is exclusive of superannuation.
If the offer is accepted, it will be subject to agreement that AMA(NSW) make no further claims on behalf of Sessional VMOs for three years.
As you are aware, we have been consulting with VMOs over the last 6 months regarding proposed changes to the Sessional and Fee-for-Service Determinations. The proposed changes to the Sessional Determination AMA(NSW) are considering include seeking remuneration for services provided from locations other than the hospital, payment for cancelled cases (as opposed to sessions) in certain circumstances, streamlining the application process for recognition as a Senior Specialist, enhancements to Regional Incentives including the Professional Support Payment and loadings, payment of loadings for work undertaken after 6pm and on weekends, an extension of TMF cover for private inpatients (in metropolitan areas).
The offer made has no bearing on Fee-for-Service arrangements and AMA(NSW)’s right to arbitrate regarding those arrangements.
AMA(NSW) will hold a webinar on Wednesday 24 July 2024 at 7pm to discuss the offer, the case for broader reform, and importantly to canvass your views.
A survey of members will be held following the webinar.
Please join me and AMA(NSW) Director of Workplace Relations, Dominque Egan, on 24 July 2024 at 7pm to discuss this important matter.
